SCW. Buildings

SCW. Large Farmhouse.

Another Empress Miniatures building. (No surprise really.)

SCW. Stable block.

This was made by combining the Empress Miniatures rustic building, which is really a stable with their wall sets.

I added the firing steps by cutting up some coffee stirrers. The mud floor was achieved using a Unibond ready mixed tile adhesive. This stuff is great and so easy to use.

The painting system was the same as the windmill.

SCW buildings. Windmill.

A Grand Manner windmill. Quite easy to paint. A mud brown emulsion undercoat followed by slightly watered down coat of a linen coloured emulsion. A grey acrylic wash on the stones folowed by a wash of GW sepia.

The roof was painted with Ginger emulsion and then washed with GW mud. Then the tops of the roof tiles picked out with orange acrylic.

The wood effect was achieved with a base coat of linen and a wash of GW Devlin mud.

I get a lot of my terrain paint from the local Focus in their paint mix section. Just find the colour you want and get it mixed. Its cheap and works very well. The GW washes are a God send.

SCW.

Well last years project, which was totally unplanned, was modern Afghanistan. Still going on and awaiting the release of the new Empress British range in a few weeks.

However this years main project is Spanish Civil War. Having done the British Civil War from the early days due to my Gentlemans Wargames Parlour connection I got more and more into reading about the SCW to the point that it has taken over. Never had any interest in this conflict before but it really is such a wargamable conflict. Lots of factions and pretty average units that offer that pre war amateurish style that I personally love in games.

I am in the process of completing a 50 to 60 man Carlist unit and have painted a number of buildings and terrain pieces and vehicles. After this I need to add some figures to a Poum 'battalion'to finish it.

All of this I need to photograph. I am lousy at doing work in progress photos as I simply concentrate on the finished bit of the job. Then move onto the next project. Must try harder. Therefore I will try and do some pictures of the latest stuff.

Colin Rumfords Arnhem terrain using Rapid Fire rules. What can I say about such an iconic set up that will do it justice? Therefore I will let the pictures speak for themselves.

And I won!

ACW Reenactment

Some pictures of The American Eagles reenactment unit. I have not been for a couple of years sadly due to life just getting too busy.

SCW.

SCW skirmish.

SCW.

FT17, Force of Arms from Rif Raf.

I want that apple and I want it now!

We had a bit of a SCW skirmish using the new Force of Arms rules. Something different we thought. We had to draft some BCW figures in to make up the numbers.
